Soccercorner.org - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger accused the Chelsea player Diego Costa valid improperly by pretending even "theatrical play" advantage of the situation which resulted in the Gunners player, Per Mertesacker receiving a red card from the referee.
Arsenal lost 0-1 when the duel with Chelsea in a match week of the League-23 (Premier League) on Sunday (24/1). The German player was sent off after a red card by the referee when considered waging a tackle on striker Diego Costa almost scored, as quoted from page Squawka.
Wenger refers to writing the media that he is not sure it's true that Chelsea striker ran to meet the ball that would have led to goals. He even believes that Costa had less laudable intentions against Mertesacker.
Costa has run the five goals in his last five games. "Costa has made two of the three players sent off in two games against Chelsea," Wenger said in a press conference after the match, as written by BBC Sports.
"Whether the decision (referee) is right or wrong? I do not know. That's the reality, without any intention to accuse him (Costa) had to do something."
"I do not know if it is Costa was offside or not, or indeed Mertesacker touched him or not. That is a decision that we get."
"The referee too quickly issued a red card. We are obedient as far as indeed the decision was taken correctly, and the result should be a draw as well. We had plenty of opportunities. We focus mentally. Sometimes when you lose, then you can just say, that the players looks good. "
When asked whether Costa exploit the situation, Wenger replied: "Yes. That's the style of a striker in the game. And Diego Costa plays well in this regard."
